CBD is trending!
CBD has grown exponentially in the last several years and is expected to be a billion dollar industry by 2022. Because of its irrefutable growth and potential, many are getting into the CBD industry simply to make a buck. Does that mean every CBD product out there is high quality? Definitely not. We will explain why.
CBD products are unregulated
This presents many potential problems in a free market, especially with a product that isn’t currently being regulated. Potential problems with your CBD product may include:
- low CBD concentration
- unnecessary synthetic materials
- substandard farming practices
- poor quality carrier oils
When purchasing a CBD product, quality is KEY. But how can you tell if the product you are considering is high quality?
4 things that make a quality CBD product
1. Third-party Lab Testing
This is crucial in knowing exactly what is in your CBD product and how it will affect you. It determines whether or not there are any harmful compounds in it, i.e. microbes, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals etc.
Additionally, lab testing is important in determining whether or not you are purchasing a product with the potency it claims. Each person’s therapeutic dose is different because each of our endocannabinoid systems are different. Without knowing the potency, you can’t accurately determine your individual dosing needs.
2. Absence of Synthetic Materials
All you really need is hemp oil and a carrier oil in order for your product to work effectively. Some essential oils or natural sweetener for taste is also acceptable. In topical CBD products, essential oils or other natural ingredients that will bolster its intended effect are also permissible.
However, there should never be any synthetic materials in your products. Especially not synthetic CBD!
3. Growing Method
It is important to know where your CBD comes from and the farming methods used to grow it. All is well and good with utilizing a plant as medicine, until your plants are grown in deficient soil or have had chemical pesticides sprayed on them.
The nutrients and health of a plant play just as big of a role in its efficacy and quality as any other ingredient. Do your research and find out how your product was grown.
4. Carrier Oils
We don’t recommend cooking with soybean, canola, or corn oils. In much the same way, we don’t recommend taking CBD in a carrier oil that will harm your body in the long run. You want an oil that is easily digestible and won’t cause inflammation as a result of consuming it.
CBD needs a quality carrier oil in order to help your body process it. You don’t want to further harm your body while trying to heal it!
How Twin Pines Hemp meets each of these criteria
Now we will put the magnifying glass on our own company to see how we meet each of these areas of quality control.
Transparent Third-party Lab Testing
Twin Pines Hemp Co. sends all of our products to Aurum Labs for third-party testing. You can find our results here.
Zero Synthetic Materials
The only ingredients found in our tinctures are our hemp oil, organic coconut oil as a carrier, and 4 drops of essential oil for flavoring. We include additional ingredients in each of our topical products in order to bolster its intended effect. We add ingredients such as essential oils with benefits that include antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, analgesics, oils for smoother application, etc. We put a lot of thought and research into each ingredient we use in any of our products and are proud to say that there is never a synthetic material in sight.
Sustainable Growing Method
This is probably the topic that we are most excited and proud to talk about. We have an extensive background in sustainable and organic agriculture. From adding nutrients to the soil before planting even begins, to treating our plants naturally for pests (sometimes by back-breaking bug-picking labor), and everything in between. We have a strong belief, no, conviction, that the quality of product and benefits we hope to bring to our customers begins with the way that we grow our plants. We are passionate about all living things, and belief that we all work in harmony to support one another. “Healthy land, healthy plants, healthy animals, healthy people.” You can read more about how our plants are grown here.
Quality Carrier Oils
You may have seen us talk about our choice of carrier oil on our social media platform. We have chosen coconut oil for its many benefits – ease of digestion, anti-inflammatory, boosts your metabolism, and antimicrobial.
